Roulette Myths: True Or Not?
What really makes roulette very popular is that it is a simple, fun, and exciting game to play which requires no skill at all.
Because of its popularity there are a few myths about roulette which have grown up and many players believe them to increase their chances of success in winning the game. Here are some of the most common myths:
1. All roulette wheels are similar. All roulette wheels are not the same. This myth is not true like for example, American and European roulettes are different from one another. The European wheel is the best to play because you have higher chance of success compared to the American wheel. European wheels have 37 slots which means the house advantage is just 2.70% compared to American wheels which have 38 slots so the house advantage is 5.25%.
2. Every spin of the roulette wheel is not random. This myth is very common. The previous spins do not affect the outcome of the next spin.
For example, the ball falls on the black for five times in a row. The players will feel that the ball will have a higher chance of falling to red. This is not true.
The odds still remain 50 - 50. It would still be the same even if the ball falls 10 or even 20 times more. Every spin of the wheel is independent to the previous spins. You cannot predict the future spins.
Many players like to bet on number that has not been touched for a long time or many would like to call it sleeping numbers. Just because the number has not been picked up does not mean it will be more likely to come up on the next spin.
The chance of getting the number will still be 1 out of 37 for European wheel or 1 out of 38 for the American wheel. You cannot predict that and there is no logic behind this.
3. A mathematical system can beat roulette. This is quite similar to the second myth. This is also not true.
There is no past data to prove this. This is a game of pure chance.
4. Money management systems. No matter how hard you manage money you cannot alter the house advantage. You cannot guarantee that you will win more.
The house always has the advantage, even before or after you apply money management systems. The house edge is still the same, it does not change.
So how do you make money from roulette? It's not by believing these myths. These myths are not true. Roulette is simply a game of chance. A fun and exciting game.
